Search 1 - The Temptation Zone
A marked search area containing a mix of 20 items such as bags, boxes, buckets, must be a mix of large and small, evenly spaced ½ metre apart from each other.
Among these, there should be 8 distractions items present (e.g. 2 Dog toys, 2 Dog blankets, 2 vegetables or fruit, 2 Dog Balls). The area should be large enough for safe movement.
Hides: 2 hides within the main items, at least two metres apart from each other. Both hides remain in the search area throughout the search.
On or off Lead.
Movement: Handlers may move freely around the area, on or off Lead as chosen, ensuring they do not influence or cue the Dog towards items unnecessarily.
Additional Rule:
Handlers may opt to play a Time Token! They can use this to remove one or two distraction items before their search. Each ‘T’ token used adds 5 seconds to their total search time, only a maximum of two can be played.
Search 2 – The Split Zone
Setup:
Two separate but visible search zones positioned side by side, for example, two coned off areas, clearly marked with a metre channel between each. 10 items in each area. One area soft items, bags ect. One area hard items (less porous)
Hides: 2 hides in total. Hides may be distributed across zones Both remain in place throughout the search. On or off Lead.
Movement: Handlers can choose which zone to search first. Once they leave a zone and move to the next, they cannot return to the previous one.
Handlers may exit and re-enter from any perimeter point between zones, but once a section is declared complete, that choice is final.
Search 3 – The Hanging Wardrobe
Setup:
A wall or freestanding rails with 15 hanging or suspended clothing items such as jackets, shirts, or hi-vis vests. Items may lightly touch each other but should be arranged to allow the Dog to move underneath or brush through them safely. Long and short items are to be used, some must reach just about the ground, others must have ½ metre clearance to the floor.
Hides: 2 hides in total.. Both hides remain throughout the search.
On or off Lead.
Movement: Handlers may move freely around the outer area but must not physically move or part the clothing.
Description:
Dogs must demonstrate confidence working around moving, swaying, objects while remaining focused on target odour. This search challenges Dogs’ environmental stability and Handlers’ ability to support calm, methodical searching without interference. It’s particularly good for testing a Dog’s indication clarity.
