What is Scent Detection?
Scent detection gives your dog a job to do. It taps into their natural instinct to search, helping build focus, confidence, and calm behaviour, all while having fun.
MINI TRAIL LEAGUE
The Mini League is the perfect starting point for trailing. It introduces your dog to following a human scent trail in a simple, structured way, helping them learn how to track a person from start to finish.
It’s designed to build confidence, understanding, and teamwork before moving on to more advanced trailing, giving you a clear and supportive way to begin your journey.
MAIN LEAGUE
The Main League brings together four key elements of scent work, Kong Detection, Match to Sample, Trail ID, and Retrieve, giving you and your dog a well-rounded challenge.

ASSESSMENTS
Our assessments are a structured way to measure your dog’s progress across all four components, Kong Detection, Match to Sample, Trail ID, and Retrieve.
Rather than competing against others, assessments focus on your individual performance, giving you clear feedback, recognised progression, and a solid foundation to build your skills step by step.
COMPETITIONS
Our competitions are a fun way to put your training into practice and test your skills against other teams. At the moment, they focus on Kong detection, all in a supportive and encouraging environment.
PUPPY & LIFE SKILLS
Our Puppy and Life Skills courses are coming soon, designed to give your dog the best possible start. From building confidence and focus to developing real-life skills you can use every day, these courses will support you and your dog right from the beginning.
To participate in assessments or competitions, you will need to register your dog and receive a UK Scent Sport ID number.
